West Texas is no stranger to heavy winds, tornados, and powerful storms. Theft is also a concern of many home owners. Accidents can shatter windows without warning, sending flying shards of glass everywhere. It can result in severe injuries to your family and significant damage to your home. Reduce the risk of potential harm to your family by installing security window film.

Security window film is made with thick, heavy-duty polyester bonded by strong adhesives. The film is preforms while being clear and out of sight. This film creates a barrier to help hold glass in place in the event of an impact of flying debris or earthquake. While this barrier helps protect you against the damaging effects of flying shattered glass, it also makes it more difficult for an intruder to smash through your windows quickly.

Safety and security window films meet the toughest industry standards in the United States, Europe and around the world, so you can trust that you’re using a product that works. You can trust this products performance due to it's testing to meet all industry standards around the world. You won’t even know it's there until that moment when it protects you and your loved ones! Think of it as insurance!

How Long Does Window Film REALLY Last?

8/30/2016

There are many opinions and speculations in the automotive industry. The durability of your window film is effected by the climate and weather conditions the film encounters on a daily basis, what quality of film the consumer chooses, and how the film is handled and maintained by the owner.

Which films last the longest? Dyed films without UV inhibitors in the polyester tend to fade faster than films with UV inhibitors. Metalized films with dye and metal deposits provide increased heat rejection with increased longevity. However, as stated at the outset, the duration of window film can be determined by both the climate and the maintenance and handling provided to the film. Although consumers cannot control the weather film is exposed to, it is in the consumers control to properly care for the film. Window films have a scratch resistant coat. However, this does not make the film scratch-proof. Sharp objects or hard edges can still damage the film. Examples of this would be a seat belt buckle or car keys hitting the glass hard resulting in a knick in the film. Caution is recommended when getting in and out of  your vehicle.

In conclusion, how long a window film lasts cannot be determined precisely but we can form a pretty accurate picture based on the type of film, handling and weather conditions. Tall City Tint provides high quality film so that each consumer gets the most out of their long-term window tinting investment!

Any Season Is a Good season

Why wait until Spring? Tinting your windows in winter months may seem like a waste of time. Tall City Tint is here to tell you, that couldn't be further from the truth. Even with the coldest months of the year upon us, the Texas sun is still shining bright. We will discuss some major benefits to having window film applied even in the colder months of the year.

The colder months in West Texas bring chilly air but definitely not less sunshine. A lot of the sun's heat is reduced is the winter because of the lower temperatures. Interestingly though, the ultra-violet rays that fade upholstery and cause sunburn and skin cancer are actually amplified 85-90% when there is snow on the ground. Most window films will reduce up to 99.9% of UV rays. This will help protect your employees, loved ones, and personal possessions.

Glare can be reduced significantly with window film. Think of the light coming through the windows onto your office computer screen. That annoyance could be reduced by installing window film to create a more comfortable workspace for employees. This, in turn, will benefit the business by increasing productivity.

Who doesn't want to reduce energy bills? When you think of window tinting you probably think of heat reduction, but it can also retain heat. In the colder months the process of convection is more of our concern. When you are heating your office or home, the heat is looking for the cold spot in the room to travel to. When the heated air hits the interior surface of the glass the air is cooled, becomes denser, and drops to the floor. This air rush is often perceived as a cold draft, causing the thermostat to be adjusted up. Unfortunately, each 1-degree increase in the thermostat setting increases energy use by 2%. Applying window film can help regulate the temperature of the glass. With window film on the glass acting as an insulator, the heated air no longer recognizes the window as the cold spot. Climate control is finally achieved.
